Hi! How are you?!
Today I am excited to share that the Checkered Shawl is out now. This shawl started out as a desire for a mindless knitting project using yarn that I dyed at The Makers Retreat in 2021. It had been hanging on my peg board for a long time and I have wanted to make something with it but i it needed to be the right project.
So the desire finally struck and I decided to wind the yarn up and start knitting a checkered shawl. As I started nearing the end of the green yarn I was getting bored and came up with the idea of crocheting a checkered design on the opposite side, and that is what I did.

This asymmetrical shawl is just a step above mindless. It’s easy to memorize and once you get going it works up fairly quick for a shawl.
This shawl has squared edges that creates a unique edge and requires a good wet blocking to really define the shape and it helps add some length to it.

What makes this pattern extra special, aside from it being both knit and crochet, is that I’ve included written instructions for both left handed and right handed crocheters. I am a lefty and I am used to converting right handed patterns to work for me and I want to do the same for right handed crocheters.

You can find the pattern on Etsy and Ravelry!
