Welcome to my corner of the internet! I am so pumped to get back into blogging and I’m starting off with perfect summer project, the Seaside Kitchen Set. This is a dishcloth and kitchen towel set created using simple stitches.
When I design patterns I try to make things simple but fun with some color. I want you to use my patterns as a recipe and a way to fuel your own creativity. I offer some rules and guidelines but feel free to break them, make this project your own. I hope that with every project you make you that you come out feeling even more confident in your craft.
In this pattern, I used 4 colors of cotton worsted weight yarn that I bought from my local yarn store Creatively Altered in Elmore, Ohio. I used these colors by color blocking so that there is minimal color changes but feel free to do any kind of striping you’d like or even make it solid.
Now let’s get making!
Supreme Cotton by Universal Yarns in White, Silken, Seafoam, and Ocean.
Dishcloth (81 yards) / Towel (368 yards)
Clover 3.75mm (F) or hook that meets gauge
Tapestry Needle for weaving in ends
16 rows x 16 stitches = 4 x 4 inches
In pattern, unblocked.
r – row
ch(s) – chain(s)
sc- single crochet
hdc – half double crochet
st(s) – stitch(es)
Approximate Sizing – Dishcloth 8 x 8 inches / Towel 24 x 12 inches
When a number follows the stitch, you will work that number across the following stitches. Example: sc 2, you will sc across 2 stitches.
The directions for how many rows to do each color are below the pattern.
Color Changes – When you are ready to work your next color begin with Row 4. For a seamless color change, switch to the next color on the last stitch of Row 3 by pulling up the new color on the last yarn over and pulling it through the three loops on your hook.
Special Stitch: Sc into the st 3 rows below (Row 1 in pattern). Insert hook into the top of the hdc st 3 rows below the current stitch, yarn over, pull up loop, yarn over, pull through 2 loops on hook. Below is the left handed, then right handed tutorial.
